The 18 best campgrounds and campsites in Kintamani (2024)

The Black Lava Campground is a fantastic place to stay if you're looking for an adventure in the area. It's located in the Kintamani area of Bali, and offers excellent views of the surrounding volcanoes. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of activities on offer, including hiking, biking, cooking classes and more.

I went here for honeymoon with my wife, and…Amazing view! Once in a lifetime experience.Clean, cozy, and warm camp.Very kind and helpful staff, my wife’s scarf was left behind and one of the staff quickly deliver it back to us.Surely someday we will be back here again!

This place is amazing! The staffs are really friendly and helpful. They're all young energetic and good looking. The food is awesome. The property is well maintained. From the booking process till checking out, you can tell they're well managed too. Some tips: if you're a light sleeper like myself, maybe avoid the room close to the sharing bathroom, at night the guests seems to go to bathroom in groups. For sure I'll be coming back there

Not the kind of experience we were looking for, they only opened two years ago (that's what they said) and it already looked worn, not to mention all the flies, we know Kintamani is known for flies everywhere but even the kitchen at Black Lava Camp was full of flies, they at least should have taken care of that, that's so unhygienic. Also, they did not mention on forehand (like for example on the AirBNB website), that you can't reach the location by yourself and you need to take a shuttle from a parking area for which they charge 200,000 IDR each time. The location and views are incredibly beautiful.

We came here for dinner and again for lunch since this place was walking distance from our hotel. The food is good and reasonably priced. At night, it had a really nice atmosphere, great to lounge by the pool, eat, listen to music, enjoy the night breeze.During the day, it has a stunning view, but there are a lot of flies which made it super annoying to stay for longer. For the most part, we had an overall pleasant experience.

Here in late October (rainy season) and be warned, there are lots of insects in the evening, if you cannot stand bugs, better to get suites (room) rather the tents. Once the temperature drops even further into the night you will see less! Try not to turn on the lights too long, it attracts them!A must do is to wake up to view the sunrise with a hot drink in your hands!

The view was spectacular and the service was amazing. The food and all facilities were all high standard, but there is a small issue with flies, but that's a bigger issue with Kintamani which is a very common problem everywhere. But other than that, it's an excellent venue and a must see part of magical Bali.

We are so lucky to stayed in one of the best room with the best view, Onion 1. The staff are friendly and the food is very good!It would be great if the hotel have a daily fogging to prevent any flies coming in especially inside dining area.Overall it is the best glamping I’ve ever had!

Pro:We loved the view and location. The camp and its facilities look amazing and are kept clean. Staff was nice.Con:While the food is fresh and clean, it’s not very tasty. Everything we had, from the BBQ sets to breakfast needed some seasoning. Even local food choices like the Nasi Goreng tasted plain. Coffee was great though! For people who are looking for a glamping experience with a DIY touch, where you can do your own BBQ and fire, this is not the place since it’s full serviced. We personally would have preferred equipment rental, over choosing set BBQ menus.

only accessible via their own shuttle but the communication was 10/10. shoutout to their staff for being so helpful during our 2 nights stay. take note that food takes a while to be served, but no biggie since we were busy admiring by the view anyway! so sad to leave this place but thank you to all Black Lava Camp crews for the unforgettable memories :)

The location, the view was fantastic, but the food service was disaster. They forgot our order several times, during dinner and bfast. I got my main course after 1 hour, which is unacceptable. They also need to pay attention to the cleanliness of the restaurant itself. We booked the suit room for 2 days, but we didn't get the service that we paid for. The only thing that enlighten our experience here was the jeep tour, and the flower decorations that they arranged for our room because we are celebrating our honeymoon.

First of all, we booked 8 rooms via online app on April 2022. We had confirmed with the hotel regarding our booking via Whatsapp, and they said our booking is already on the list. So we went to book another 1 room by Whatsapp and paid the room. But suddenly one day before checking in in January 2023, the online app inform us that our booking is not listed in the hotel list. I checked back with the hotel, then they said this hotel was fully booked. They insisted on moving us to other hotel, and the hotel they gave us was terrible. The access was also terrible (because we bring elders too in this trip, and no information was given to us prior checking in) but the point is, the service was very rude too, they keep insisting that this isn’t their fault. Please improve your management, and please inform your visitors too maximum 7 days before checking in. We had a long trip to Bali, especially Kintamani but what we get is this bad experience. One star is too much for this hotel.

Beautiful view and aesthetics of the camp💔Good food and nice breakfast included 👍But very very bad road to the camp, round trip transfer included, but not very convenient if you want to stay mobile. Staff was very loyal and helped us up at night🙏🏼I love the pleasant smell of the towels😄The pool is beautiful, but it was not possible to swim because the water is very cold.

Worst stay, place was dirty and no privacy at all especially if you are in the onion rooms prepare to be stared at from every person passing your place because the curtains doesn’t close properly.also you can’t get out or in unless you call them and they will get you from different place because you can’t drive with taxi or your car to the camp as it’s really damaged and risky road and they will offer you only one free shuttle otherwise you are going to be stuck there with below average food and no AC rooms.at night it was cold but during day you will feel you are in sauna you can’t even breathe inside for me it felt really like a prison and i cancelled my booking but they didn’t refund me.And I forgot about the useless lock they gave us which make anyone can open it and enter your room so if you are leaving your room you better take all the valuable things with you!The only good thing about this place is the view which you can get it from any place around them.

I was arranging a friend birthday celebrations there and stayed for a night at the camp with big group. We love the view so much, and the camp site is beautiful. The food is great, Big Thank you and appreciate the head chef for quick response and help me arranged the event really well. The staff is very friendly and very helpful too.The value of the price is to high, compare with other camp that has same facilities and similar view. The tent got to hot already at 7am, as there were no fan at all tent or even at the suite rooms. We were unhappy with slow responds of the admin. And were really disappointed, that the management, letting a group band doing some video clip making at camp area at 6am. They were making noise with the drums and drone flying around the tent side with loud noise aswell. Is really not acceptable.I hope, the management will do better work from now on. Thank you, goodluck.

The service is far from being their strong point, we always have the feeling of bothering them and they always behind in the kitchen . To get there you have to use their shuttles, which they don't hesitate to charge 200,000rp outside of check-in and checkout. During our stay there were flies everywhere and only one device to repel them for all the tenants. Afterwards, the place is super nice but plan not to go back during your stay.

DO NOT STAY HEREThere are things I cannot compromise on:- Good service is only provided by the lady at the front office. Others seem to have no intention of working- The roads are not accessible for all cars. It can only be passed by big cars such as SUV, 4WD, etc. For you who using a city car, they directed to park in the space they provided, and they facilitated a shuttle car to go down.Everything fine until i found out, THE FREE SHUTTLE CAR IS ONLY FOR CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT. If I want to go out, I have to pay 200k rupiah for one time up and down (not per day). The most annoying thing is: i was not informed before. In fact, I found out because when I checked-in there was a woman who wanted to use shuttle car to the upper parking lot to get her items she had left behind. And i heard about the 200k for the shuttle car topics.- The parking lot is chaos. The cars were piled up, no one was there. I have to wait for the staff below (at the hotel) to go up and move the car. This took about 30-40 minutes.* For people who stay here to find peace and quiet, hopefully you won't meet any other groups with kids. For Black Lava management, maybe you should start thinking about making the rooms soundproof. My advice: think twice before you book a room in here.

I think they are now improving the service quality, after read the review and try to stay there, they did a very good job, all the staff were helpful, start from check-in process until escorting us to our rooms, we are staying at potato 9. The view is beautiful, the room is clean, the bedroom also nice, however the down side is the bath up is quite dirty so we can’t enjoying it, hopefully they will improve this, however i think if we ask the team to clean it, they will definitely help us. The restaurant is nice, the pool is very big as well, however i think they need to improve the food taste. We order 2 type of food, Tom Yum & Soto Ayam, the tom yum is fine, but the soto is not really good, at first we order soto because i think its the safest menu to order since it indonesian food but turns out the soto is tasteless. Last but not least, its a quite nice glamping, and i think i want to try their campervan facility for the next visit. SEE YOU

Had a 2 night stay at black lava camp and it was a very pleasant one. Apart from its pretty inaccessible location, the cozy rooms and views you get makes it worth it ! The prices are extremely reasonable for the services provided. As the place is on Kintamani which is a mountain area, it can get a little cold in the evening, depending on the time of year. Visited in late September (temperature around 15 degrees). Overall a good experience and would recommend giving this place a try ! They also provide free breakfast with many options.

We stay few days ago in Potato 9 Room. The stay was amazing! we request for some extra decoration for our anniversary and it was perfect! The view was perfect and the bathtub hot water is working fine if you know how to use it ( after some times the water running cold, you just need to close and open the sink again)Thank you for the great stay and for sure we will go there again for our next trip.

A spectacular location, staff are very friendly. Just let them know when you're ready for pick up and be aware that there are flies during the day. Hard to imagine an Aussie complaining about the flies though. There is also a huge selection of restaurants back on the ridge with great views too.

Super nice place, stunning views, cozy lodges and friendly staff. Breakfasts and transfers to Kemp are included, although the road is not as bad as it is described. We had already went down that day and it was fine. But there are a few minuses that really spoil the vacation and need to be fixed:1. Unbearable heat in the rooms from the time the sun rises until sunset. The capsules get hot and it is impossible to stay there. Need to put a ventilation system and then it will be fine.2. At 8am construction started under our capsule, it was very noisy which made it difficult to relax.Flies were also uncomfortable, but this is a problem everywhere in Kintamani.

Great location amazing view, very hot in the afternoon. Collection with 4w drive car is convenience since the road to location is very stiff and narrow.Check in : 3 pmCheck out : 11 am

the hotel is in very poor condition, everything that is displayed on the website for review and in fact what is there is fundamentally different, maybe they have a couple of model rooms, which is what is shown in the advertising review, but in reality, it’s just a mattress on the floor and covered with a chip tarpaulin, there is not even a basic bedside table, the shower and toilet are shared, it cost me 850,000 and when I asked for a shower and toilet, I had to pay another 750,000. I recommend not visiting this establishment

Oleg Garnytskyy — Google review

The view is spectacular. The price for the drinks and food was a joke. They cost a lot more than any other places around. We left because the number of flies was just too much to handle. But the worst is the route to get there. It was a horrible route. The street was so narrow, only fit for one car, no alternative route to get there, and street conditions was a nightmare.
