EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Intake Specialist (Full-Time) University Behavioral Associates (UBA) at Montefiore Medical Center is offering a unique opportunity to work for two federally funded research programs serving low-income families in the South Bronx. HERO Dads is focused on providing a wide range of services for low-income adult fathers with non-custodial children (under the age of 24). It is designed to: enhance relationship and anger-management skills through relationships education; increase father engagement by providing skills-based parenting education; and foster economic stability by providing employment-related supports inclusive of job search, vocational skills training, job referrals, and job retention. The parenting and relationship psychoeducation workshops are based on an empirically supported curriculum, 24/7 Dad, developed by the National Fatherhood Initiative. HERO Dads also provides supplemental activities to promote responsible fatherhood, such as parent coaching, father-child activities, and vocational case management. HERO Dads is based on the notion that non-custodial fathers lack models of responsible fatherhood and are subject to numerous stressors that undermine their ability to remain engaged with their children and meet their child support obligations. We believe that relationship and parenting education, coupled with access to employment services that address these stressors, will support and strengthen fragile families. HERO Dads is a FREE program, and all services are provided in both Spanish and English. Responsibilities:
Outreach & Recruitment. The Intake Specialist will outreach and liaise with community partner organizations to recruit potential clients to enroll in the HERO Dads program. They will need to use Salesforce, Slack, and Excel for programmatic processes.
Intakes. The Intake Specialist will outreach potential clients to schedule intake appointments. They will conduct intakes with fathers interested in HERO to determine program eligibility, assess relationship/parenting dynamics, employment/financial issues, and determine case management needs. They will create client individualized service plans based on research, clinical experience, and client histories.
Resource Coaching. The Intake Specialist will provide support to a caseload of 20-30 fathers as they progress through the 1-year program. This may include addressing case management needs, career coaching, providing referrals, and offering resources to support the fathers in their parenting and employment goals.
Workshop Facilitation. With guidance from expert staff, the Intake Specialist will be responsible for delivering HERO Dads curricula, utilizing the program’s unique culturally competent, trauma-informed, experiential, and peer-supported approach. The intake specialist will co-facilitate 2-3 of workshops per week with groups of 6-12 fathers. Workshops occur in the morning (9-11 a.m.), on weeknights (6:00-8:00 p.m.), and occasionally on weekends as a 2 or 3-day intensive. Qualifications & Requirements:
Candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree. Master’s (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC) in social work, counseling, psychology (or a related field) from an accredited program is preferred. Strong preference for licensed or license eligible as a mental health provider in NYS.
