Proving to be a man of many talents, the 25 year-old songwriter, producer, and entertainer has penned, produced, and performed for some of the biggest names in urban and pop music. K-Major’s heartfelt melodies mixed with southern 808’s allow him to passionately express insinuations of love versus lust, pain versus pleasure, and most of all, failure versus success. K-Major’s genre bending and blending brand of genius is a testament to his larger than life persona and there is still more magic to come.

Born March 9, 1991, Kendricke D. Brown began his musical journey in the small town of Cartersville, GA; just 40 miles northwest of Atlanta. At age 15, Brown signed his first record deal with Blackshield Entertainment, based out of Atlanta, GA, and worked alongside producers Fatboi and Shawty Redd, and songwriter/artist Kalenna (formerly of Diddy-Dirty Money). A few years later, Brown aka “K-Swag” and the label parted ways allowing him to set his sights on larger horizons. Brown eventually changed his stage name from K-Swag to K-Major, an ode to his favorite octave on the musical scale and a constant reminder of his first love: music.

In 2010, as a student of the Art Institute of Atlanta, Brown established his own record label and publishing company, 3MG Entertainment (MasterMinds Music Group). Following the success of multiple releases including his first single “My Song” off of the self-entitled mixtape The MAJORity Rules, K-Major discontinued his studies and began to pursue a full time career in music. After reaching the national spotlight with live performances on BET’s 106 & Park Wild-Out-Wednesday and BET’s Blaze the Stage, his music began to spread throughout the country. K-Major also tacked on multiple accolades landing song placements on BET’s series The Game, VH-1’s Hit the Floor, ABC’s Lincoln Heights, and the WWE film Knuckleheads.

After signing a recording contract with Redzone Entertainment/Capitol Records, K-Major hit the ground running releasing controversial singles “Smashin” and “A lot of Cash” feat Young Thug off of his album iMJVOR. In 2014, upon his release from Capitol Records, K-Major signed a co-publishing agreement with Redzone Entertainment and Kobalt Music Publishing. Since then, K-Major has racked up an impressive body of music working alongside the Grammy Award winning duo, The Dream and Tricky Stewart, and contributing to songs by major R&B, Hip-Hop, and Pop artists such as French Montana (co-producer “Moses” feat Chris Brown and Migos), Jacquees (writer “Perfect”, co-writer/producer “Feel It” feat Lloyd & Rich Homie Quan), and Future (co-producer “Salute”). In the midst of writing and producing ground breaking hits for other artists, K-Major continues to create exciting new music for his fans. His prior releases include "A Lot of Cash" feat Young Thug (2014), a creative collaboration with DJ Spinz entitled "Pursuit of Happiness" (2014), "Free Yourself" by DJ Scream & K-Major (2015), and "Shut It Down" feat August Alsina (2015) off of his first independent album Category V (2015) currently available worldwide.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to K-Major's song "I Can't Wait" express the feelings of a person longing for their loved one. The opening lines portray the person's timid and hesitant confession of love, as they use a soft and quiet voice to express their feelings. They mention that despite their inexperience in conveying their emotions, the loved one responds with a smile, making the person feel happy.

The next part of the song talks about the pain of separation and how each night they spent apart gradually fades away. They express their desire for the loved one to hold their hand, which would make everything better. The chorus emphasizes the importance of remembering the present moment, even though time keeps passing and seasons change. They realize that breaking up and growing distant are things that happen independently of their control, and they find solace in the warm glow of streetlights that remind them of their loved one.

The bridge of the song suggests that the nights they spend together are not nights of goodbye but rather nights that make them feel their unchanging love. They state that as long as they hold each other, they can remember this day from a long time ago, no matter how many days pass. The song concludes with the repetition of the notion that breaking up and growing distant are things they cannot do because their love is stronger.

Overall, "I Can't Wait" captures the emotions of longing, fear of loss, and the desire to hold onto moments of love despite the challenges of separation.
