Is it hard to get hired for a remote job? ›

Getting a remote job is not so difficult, but it's different from getting a regular job. Some hiring platforms might be overcrowded. But if you're patient and if you're willing to boost your skills regularly, you'll get your turn to shine.

🌏 LinkedIn operates with over 930 million active professionals each month, and that's just one source of networking. Some 74% of freelancers use multiple social media networks — Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and even TikTok — to promote their services.

Employers are going to look for previous remote or flexible work experience. We'll talk about that later and show how you can call that out on your resume, but if you've ever worked remotely either full-time or part-time, that absolutely counts.

It's not easy to get a remote job due to high competition. Not only do you compete against the local talent, but also against the high-quality talent applying for the same position from across the world. There are hundreds, even thousands, of applications that apply for the same position.

Of course, we want to make a great first impression when starting any new job, but virtual work can pose its own challenges. After all, you don't get to directly speak with your colleagues or make that in-person impression, which, yes, can make onboarding that much more difficult.

That said, it's still not always easy to find remote jobs, let alone get hired for them. So much of traditional recruiting and hiring is still built around in-person opportunities. But if you know how and where to look—and how to stand out as a stellar remote candidate—it's definitely doable.

Is remote work in high demand? ›

The share of remote work opportunities for high-wage earners might have fallen from its peak in 2022, but there are still dozens of flexible jobs with salaries in the six-figure range in high demand. Popular job search site Indeed saw a 40% increase in remote job openings between March 2023 and March 2024.
